Iberojet Inaugurates First Direct Flight Connecting Madrid and Bangkok

BANGKOK, May 31, 2024 – In a landmark moment for both Spain and Thailand, Iberojet successfully completed its maiden flight from Madrid to Bangkok, marking the first-ever direct air link between the two countries.

Flight E9845, operated with a 432-seat Airbus A350-900 aircraft, landed at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport this afternoon, carrying 360 passengers, including Ávoris Corporation executives, Spanish press members, and social media influencers.

This inaugural flight is the result of a strategic partnership between the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Spain's leading travel group, Ávoris Corporation, Iberojet's parent company. The new route aims to strengthen tourism ties and facilitate travel between the two nations.

Mr. Sermsak Pongpanit, Minister of Tourism and Sports, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Now is an opportune time for Spanish travelers to visit Thailand, especially with the recent visa exemption extension for Spanish passport holders to 60 days."

Iberojet plans to operate weekly flights between Madrid and Bangkok from May to December 2024. The airline's commitment to this route signifies a growing interest in Thailand as a preferred destination for Spanish tourists.

This direct connection is expected to boost tourism, cultural exchange, and business opportunities between Spain and Thailand. Travelers from both countries can now look forward to a more convenient and accessible way to experience each other's rich cultures and attractions.
